FAQs

What is soy wax?

Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. The process starts with soybeans from which the oil is separated. The oil is then purified and goes through a process known as hydrogenation which transforms it from liquid oil to a solid at room temperature creating soy wax.

What's the difference between a soy candle and a traditional candle?

Traditionally, candles were made from paraffin wax. An end-product of petroleum. Paraffin contains around 11 carcinogenic compounds deemed 'toxic air contaminants'.
Evidence shows that paraffin candle soot particles contain many of the same compounds as burning diesel fuel. The soot that paraffin wax emits blackens walls, ceilings, and furniture, contaminate air in your home as well as adding toxic carcinogens into the air you breathe.
Soy candles are better for you and for the environment. Soy wax is non-toxic and burns cleaner than paraffin. Soy candles burn slower and cooler than paraffin wax, giving them a longer lifespan than paraffin candles. Since soybeans are vegetables, soy wax is naturally biodegradable, making it easier to remove from the candle container after burning and easy to clean up if spilled.

How long do your candles burn?

Soy candles are very long lasting. The burn time for our 250g Signature Collection candles is 65 hours.

My candle isn't burning down evenly, am I doing something wrong?

When you light your candle, let it burn until the wax reaches the edges of the jar. That establishes the memory of the wax and will allow it to burn evenly all the way down. For more information see our Candle Care Page.
